Insurance and Shield Plan Support for Hand and Wrist Treatment

Dr Jonathan Lee is a hand surgeon and hand specialist based at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Singapore. We accept a range of insurance plans and corporate insurance networks, listed below. Many patients ask whether their insurance, Integrated Shield Plan, or corporate medical benefits apply to a hand or wrist consultation, investigation, or surgery — this page explains how insurance and Medisave generally work with our clinic.

Coverage always depends on your specific plan, your policy's terms, and the treatment you receive — WhatsApp us at +65 9451 5807 and our team will help you check what applies to you before your visit.

How Insurance and Medisave Generally Apply to Hand and Wrist Care

There are three main ways treatment at our clinic may be supported financially, and they work differently:

  • Integrated Shield Plans (ISPs) — personal Medisave-linked plans such as PRUShield, AIA HealthShield Gold Max, GREAT SupremeHealth, Singlife Shield, IncomeShield, and HSBC Life Shield. These plans have their own panel arrangements, pre-authorisation requirements, and Letter of Guarantee (LOG) processes, and typically apply differently to consultations than to day surgery or inpatient surgery.

  • Corporate and network insurance arrangements — billing relationships with insurance networks and third-party administrators, generally covering outpatient consultations and sometimes day surgery, depending on your employer's plan.

  • Medisave — may be used for certain approved hand and wrist procedures, subject to claim limits. Medisave rules apply to specific procedures rather than all consultations or treatments.

If you are unsure which of these applies to you, our clinic team can help you check before your visit.

Integrated Shield Plans (Personal)

We accept the following Integrated Shield Plans. Coverage for any specific consultation or procedure still depends on your plan's terms, so we recommend confirming with us before your appointment.

Former Insurer Names You May Still Be Searching For

Insurance providers in Singapore have changed names or merged in recent years. If you are looking for any of the following, you may be looking for their current equivalents — all of which we accept:

  • Aviva is now part of Singlife.

  • AXA's Singapore health insurance portfolio is now part of HSBC Life.

  • NTUC Income is now Income Insurance (the IncomeShield product name remains unchanged).

What to Bring to Your Appointment

If you plan to make a claim through your Integrated Shield Plan or corporate insurance, it may help to bring:

  • Your NRIC or passport

  • Your insurance policy card or membership details

  • Any pre-authorisation or Letter of Guarantee documentation already issued by your insurer

WhatsApp our clinic team beforehand and we can guide you through exactly what's needed for your plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dr Jonathan Lee on my insurance panel?

We accept the insurers listed above. Exact panel tier and pre-authorisation requirements vary by plan, so we recommend WhatsApp-ing us to confirm before your appointment.

Does my Integrated Shield Plan cover hand or wrist surgery?

This depends on your specific plan, any riders you hold, and whether pre-authorisation or a Letter of Guarantee is required. We recommend confirming this with your insurer and our clinic before your visit.

What is a Letter of Guarantee, and do I need one?

A Letter of Guarantee (LOG) is an arrangement between your insurer and the hospital or clinic that allows eligible treatment to proceed on a cashless basis. Requirements and processes vary by insurer — our clinic team can advise whether one applies to your situation.

Can I use Medisave for a hand or wrist consultation or procedure?

Medisave may be used for certain approved procedures, subject to claim limits, but does not apply to all consultations or treatments. WhatsApp us to check whether your treatment qualifies.

What should I bring to my appointment if I want to claim through my Shield plan?

A referral letter (if required), your NRIC or passport, your policy details, and any pre-authorisation documentation. See "What to Bring to Your Appointment" above.

My insurer is not listed here — can I still claim?

Please contact us. If your insurance provider is not listed here, we will do our best to help arrange the process for you.
